Benefits of keeping your basement dry
We have had basements in our last two homes and we recently purchased a dehumidifier. I can’t tell you the difference this has made in our basement and has helped to almost eliminate that musty smell that sometimes happens to basements. The musty smell can also mean that their is moisture in the carpet and walls which if left alone can lead to mold and allergens that can lead to various health problems. Most dehumidifiers are built to help take the moisture out of the air and will have a retention basin that will collect the moisture for disposal. Some will actually come with feature that will allow you to automatically pump the water out to a sump pump in your basement. This reduces the maintenance on your part and helps to keep the machine operating all the time. You will be amazed to see how much water will accumulate when you first plug in your dehumidifier.
