How to maximize your blog
I have seen more ads and pages now being shown on how to make money on the internet through blogging. One such email I received touted making thousands each month by putting your blog on auto pilot. The interesting thing was that they were charging $497 for their secrets which in a nutshell were all around affiliate marketing. The premise behind most of these claims is that tell you how to sign up for various affiliate programs and then drive traffic to your blog in the hopes someone will buy scented candles, travel, or other services. What they forget to tell you is that thousands others are doing the same thing and targeting the same key words in PPC advertising, and that people go to blogs to find new and interesting content. If you are setting up a blog to promote affiliate links it will be a short term project, because it will be those that can create fresh content and keep the readers coming back that will survive in the long run.
One of the more promising things I have tried has been to submit articles to various websites. There are article sites that will take your 200 plus word article and make it available across their network so that people can bring that content onto their own web page. Now the benefit is that in the credit tags you place links back to your blog and this helps in search engine recognition and extra traffic. This will then lead to greater exposure and build your readership base. As always content is king and this is where you will seperate your blog from others. If you use Wordpress software then you can add in various plugins to help get your site indexed by Google and other major websites.
