iPad 2 Accessories

April 10th, 2011

Consumers now have some great new tools to enhance their audio and visual equipment. For years there has been a push to make your PC the central media solution to play your music, control your TV and enhance your video. The introduction of the iPad 2 and the new iOS 4.3 media sharing is more practical and easier. There are also some great ipad2 accessories that can help protect your iPad 2 but also help you connect to your home theater. The wireless age has helped to break down some of these barrier and now there are some new products coming onto the market that combine the sophistication of high end sound while using your existing electrical wiring already found in your walls. For some the media centers can be quite expensive and the house may not be wired correctly to accept CAT 5 wiring.

Enjoying the outdoors

March 23rd, 2011

The other night we were sitting out in the backyard around our fire table roasting marshmallows and making smores. With the addition of fountains that sit on a table you can enjoy the outdoors. This was one of the best investments that we have made for our back yard to gather the family around and share stories and create a more close knit family. My son loves to burn the marshmallows and yet he will still eat them. We decided on the propane fueled fire pit because of the easy cleanup and quick start-up. There are log fueled fire tables which are just as nice depending on the ambiance you are trying to achieve.

Improving my class note taking

March 22nd, 2011

Guest post written by Rachel Hanks

Last semester I was really preoccupied with rushing and pledging my sorority and I feel like I didn’t do as well in my classes as I could have because of that. But I’m not making any excuses for this semester and am going to focus on taking better notes on my computer during class instead of checking on Facebook and stuff like that.

Taking great notes is probably an even bigger deal when it comes to me because I’m majoring in journalism, which means that taking notes will be a really important skill to have for my future and not just for college. I went online to try and find some tips last week before the semester started and while I was doing that I came across the website http://www.Clear-internet.com. I read through it, showed it to my roommates and we signed up for the internet service at our apartment.

I really have been much better at note taking on my laptop so far this semester and am being much more organized for it by keeping everything in nice little neat folders on my computer.

Using content and pictures to drive traffic

March 18th, 2011

Now traffic is king and creating tons of traffic is another important element in receiving high ranks from the search engines. There are lots of free ways to help drive more traffic to your website. A new webmaster just wants to get indexed first, before they start trying to crawl up the ladder in the big search engines. A good way to help get your website indexed is to submit it to various directories. Once you start getting traffic then you need to offer them something of value and this is where content and pictures can really increase your repeat customers.
There is a term that is used in search engine management called “Evergreen content” What this means is content that is not topical, such who won Monday Night Football, but more along the lines of “How to find fresh content” This and other topics that have no time of expiration and are very specific in their search terms. If you are trying to get noticed and traffic to your site, then you need to be specific in your keywords, and use through out your blog or site.
For pictures you can subscribe to sites like fotolia.com where they have over 12 million royalty free images that you can use. Having a source of royalty free photos can be a huge deal to a blogger in order to provide something eye catching to your readers.
The last method that we are going to discuss is linking to other high quality sites and content. Linking to high quality content is also very helpful when deploying your search engine campaign. And if you can get those sites to link back to you your are farther ahead than your competition. Don’t rely on a simple few keywords in your description in hopes to achieve top placement in the search engines. Design your content and messaging around your top 3 or 4 key phrases and then use those in all your online branding.

Direct mail marketing is still alive

January 21st, 2011

While most people are focused on their facebook pages and smartphones companies are still using direct mail marketing to target specific customers. It is true that many new social network sites allow for companies to capture many of the important data points needed. It is how they are able to combine this with offers online as well those that we receive through the mail. For instance I got a letter from an insurance agent asking us to check out their Facebook page for monthly updates on how to keep our home and car safe. Something I would not have known about had I not received their letter.
